FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 6, 2007

State Attorney Steve Meadows announces the conviction, in Calhoun County Circuit Court, of Gary Jordan on a charge of sale of cocaine.

After a two-day trial, the two males, four females jury deliberated about one hour before finding Jordan, 27, of Blountstown, guilty in the June 28, 2006, incident. An undercover operative of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office purchased cocaine from Jordan at a mobile home that officers say was a regular source of cocaine sales.

The jurors apparently disregarded the defense contention that the cocaine came from the informants underwear.

Sentencing is set for February 28. Jordan faces a maximum of 15 years in prison, or 30 years if treated as a habitual felony offender. Florida law requires an inmate to serve at least 85 per cent of his sentence.
