CHIPLEY MAN NOW FACING 20 YEARS PRISON
State Attorney Steve Meadows announces the conviction, and sentence, in
Washington County Circuit Court, of Jared Kent.
The three males, three females jury deliberated 30 minutes before finding
Kent, BM, DOB 03/19/1952, guilty of Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer.
Kent, who had been previously sentenced to 15 years prison for a violation
of probation for Possession of Hydrocodone with Intent to Sell, was
convicted of a February 28, 2007, incident involving an attack on a
Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputy.
Circuit Court Judge Allen Register sentenced Kent to five years prison,
consecutive to the violation of probation sentence. The composite term is 20
years. Florida law requires that an inmate serve at least 85 per cent of his
sentence.
