Motion filed in Francis case; based upon new complaints

April 12, 2007

State Attorney Steve Meadows announces the filing of a motion to revoke bond against Joe Francis. The motion is primarily based upon warrants charging Francis with five counts of introduction of contraband in a county detention facility, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, and one count of bribery of a public servant.

The Bay County Sheriff's Office has conducted an investigation which alleges that Francis, who is in the Bay County jail as a result of a contempt citation from United States District Court , possessed a number of pills as well as cash. Additionally, the Sheriff's Office affidavit alleges that Francis attempted to use the cash to bribe a correctional officer.

Francis,34, of Santa Monica, California, was previously charged in Bay County Circuit Court with two counts of conspiracy to use a child in a sexual performance, one count of using a child in a sexual performance, one count of promoting a sexual performance by a child, and two counts of solicitation to commit prostitution.

The motion to revoke bond will be set before a Bay County Circuit Court Judge at a later date.
