Inmate convicted of murder; penalty phase to begin Friday
State Attorney Steve Meadows announces the conviction, in Washington County
Circuit Court, of Johnny DeWayne Reed, on a charge of First Degree Murder.
The jury deliberated about 38 minutes before finding Reed, WM, DOB:
3-22-1973, guilty in the November 13, 2006, death of Donald Ray Williams.
Reed was serving a 20 year sentence for a robbery in Duval County when he
killed Williams, a fellow inmate.
The jury will reconvene on Friday to recommend a death sentence or life in
prison without the possibility of parole.
