Teen sentenced to prison for Dozier attack
State Attorney Steve Meadows announces the sentencing, in Jackson County
Circuit Court, of Justin Daniel Caldwell, to five years prison, on a charge
of Battery on Detention or Commitment Facility Staff.
Caldwell, WM, DOB: 2-5-1989, of 23175 Lincoln Street, Robertsdale, Alabama,
was found guilty, in a trial earlier this month, of the February 11, 2007,
incident in which Caldwell elbowed, head-butted, and kicked a Department of
Juvenile Justice employee while at Dozier School in Marianna.
The five years sentence is the maximum by allowed by statute. Florida law
requires that an inmate serve at least 85 per cent of his sentence.
