May 25, 2007

State Attorney Steve Meadows announces the conviction, in Washington County Circuit Court of Timothy C. Flowers on a charge of Failure of a Sex Offender to Properly Register.

The jury deliberated 55 minutes before finding Flowers, 36, of Cottondale, guilty of the charge. Deputies of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office checked the registered, Loyis Road address 21 times in a three-month period; finding Flowers present only once. Further evidence was presented to show that Flowers had spent some of the time frame charged at a motel in Chipley.

Flowers was convicted of sexual battery, in 1997, in Jackson County, and was sentenced to nine years prison. Florida law requires that sexual offenders register with the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles and with local law enforcement.

Sentencing is set for June 5, at 8:30 a.m. Flowers faces up to five years in prison.
