June 18, 2008 State Attorney Steve Meadows announces the sentencing, in Bay County Circuit Court, of Tyler Chance Wert for two counts of DUI Manslaughter. Wert, WM, DOB: 6-21-1990, of Santa Rosa Beach, entered a plea to the two counts in connection with a May 10, 2007, collision at Panama City Beach which resulted in the deaths of Ray E. Tipton and Emmalene T. Young. Wert, who turns 18 on Saturday, was sentenced to 12 years in prison, followed by 18 years probation. He must make restitution and is ordered to speak to groups, at least four times per year, about the consequences of drinking and driving. |
