Felony |
Offenders who have reached their eighteenth birthday or
any legally transferred juvenile who has been charged
with a felony are prosecuted by the felony division. A
felony offense is defined as any offense punishable by
more than one year of incarceration.
Examples of felony charges include: Burglary, Grand
Theft, and Possession of Cocaine. |

Misdemeanor |
This division prosecutes violations of criminal traffic
laws, criminal violations of county and municipal
ordinances and misdemeanor offenses. A misdemeanor
offense is defined by Florida law as offenses punishable
by a maximum sentence of incarceration of up to one year
in county jail.
Examples of misdemeanor charges include: Battery and
Petit Theft. |

Juvenile |
Offenders who have not reached their eighteenth birthday
are prosecuted in juvenile court unless legally
transferred to adult court. A delinquent child is one
who committed any act which would be a criminal offense
if done by a person over 18 years of age. |

Worthless
Checks |
The worthless check program
provides screening for all worthless checks received for
prosecution from law enforcement agencies within the
circuit. This program provides for the diversion of
offenders who meet the pre-trial diversionary criteria.

Victim
Services |
This program works closely with
victims, Assistant State Attorneys, and outside agencies
to provide support and guidance during the prosecution
of criminal cases occurring in this circuit. The
victims' rights advisor in this division provides
services to the Felony, Misdemeanor, and Juvenile
Divisions. |

Investigations |
The investigative division is
responsible for conducting investigations, assisting
with witness location, and securing the appearance of
witnesses for trial. |

Business
Office |
The administrative division handles the personnel,
training, purchasing, and fiscal matters for the office.
This division is also responsible for preparing office
policies and procedures, informing new employees of the
rules and regulations and ensuring that all state
mandates are met regarding office purchases, equipment,
and furnishings. In addition to these functions, this
division is responsible for providing any other duties
or functions designated by the State Attorney.
